This is a great baby shower game ideally for outdoor showers, considering it may get a little messy. Take 8-10 dark colored deflated balloons and squeeze an artificial baby inside. In one of the balloons, put two babies in a single balloon (twins). Put that balloon inside a bigger inflated balloon with some water. Guests will have to find creative ways to pop the balloon (considering they will get a little wet) to find out if they have the twin baby balloon. The guest with the winning balloon gets the prize. Explain to the baby shower guest that the object of the baby shower game is to not cross your legs during the baby shower because a woman cannot give birth with her legs closed. Tell all your guest to scream out if they see someone with their legs crossed. The person with their legs crossed has to take the towel, place it between their legs and connect the corners and tie with big rubber band or string and repeat on other side to form a big diaper. The person with the diaper is the only one that can yell out from then on, who also has their legs crossed to then have them pass the diaper duty...and so on. Everyone can sit in a circle with the mommy-to-be approaching each individual and asking, "do you have the pin" and see if she can instinctually figure out by non-verbal and voice who has the pin. Each baby shower participant needs to say, "(mommy-to-be's name) I do not have the pin". Everyone should keep an innocent baby face.

What Am I
Materials: Paper, pens, safteypins or strong tape
Place a baby item on each piece of paper (bottle, blanket..ect) and then as the baby shower guests arrive, place the paper on their backs without them seeing what item they were given (what baby object was drawn on the paper) . Inform the guests of the rules. You have to try to guess what you are by asking "Yes" or "No" questions about what kind of baby shower or baby item you are. The questions can not be actual names of items and must be descriptive words like texture, shape, size, color. Example: "can you use it for changing the baby.?" "is it blue?" "is it soft?" or "is it round?" When the baby shower guest figures out what the item is, then they can remove the paper off of their back.

Materials: Pack of Newborn Diapers, 6 different baby foods, paper, pens
Place a little baby food, different colors, different tastes (vegetables, meat, fruit), in several diapers and fold them up well. Give each baby shower guest a sheet of paper and pen/pencil. Pass each diaper around and have each baby shower guest guess what baby food is in the diaper, without opening it (just by smelling and writing it down). Baby Shower Game Poem - (Materials: paper with poem written on it). This is a fun icebreaker and interactive game. The baby shower host should type or write the poem on a piece of paper. She should start the game by giving the baby shower poem to one of the guests who must read the first line (#1). Each person that receives the poem thereafter must read the next number and follow its instructions. It's a great way to get everyone socializing. The person last holding the poem receives a shower gift.

Have the mommy-to-be or another baby shower guest start reading the first line and then follow the poem's instructions of who will read next:

St. Patrick's Day Baby Shower

If you have your baby shower around the time of St. Patrick's Day, it can work out very well as a baby shower lucky clover theme. A few ideas are to use the theme of "A Pot of Gold", "Green", "Four Leaf Clover", and "Leprechaun". A cute baby shower idea is to have everyone sign a four-leaf-clover or Pot of Gold theme board stating, "Friend's Name Pot Of Gold!" and pointing to the tummy of the mommy-to-be. Another idea is to have a Leprechaun on sheets of paper with a text bubble next to them or on a big poster board and give the parent's to be some ideas that would be helpful for their preparing for their little "Pot of Gold".

Symbolic coin and gem candy, including green candy, rainbows and leprechauns are great to place on tables of the baby shower. Serving green (food color) finger food and having pot of gold centerpieces or things with Happy St. Pappy's (and Mommies) Day can be cute! Spread colorful (rainbow) decorations and coins on tables is a nice touch for the Saint Patrick's Day celebration. The Baby Shower St. Patty's Day theme is cute and works all throughout the month as well as the days prior to the "Lucky" day. Have the mommy to be look for the "pot of gold" at the party and hide relevant gifts (diaper packs, pacifiers, baby shower frames).

Baby shower decorations can be purchased at any party store that sells St. Patrick's Day decorations such as green cups, place settings and other items. The use of rainbow colors and of course anything in green are festive for the month. Four Leaf Clover balloons and rainbow streamers can also be used and green punch can be given as a drink! Party hats/derby's with the same green theme would be festive. A Baby Shower pot of gold can be given as a gift which would have diapers, toys, and more helpful items in the pot for the parent's to be.

A really fun baby shower game is the Match Game. Make up two boards with squares. On one board number the squares, on the other one use letters. Each board would have a matching idea under the square (a similar game to picture match or memory game). Under the numbers and letters are things pertaining to baby and birth that you can come up with (Birth, Labor Pains, Breast Feeding, Precious Baby, Preemie). For instance, under #5 and under letter A are the words "Labor pains". Each person calls out one letter and one number. The person who calls A 5 would make a match if both A and 5 have a matching idea/picture! The best part is the prizes. The match for "Labor pains" is a packet of Whoppers. The prize for "Breast feeding" would be Milk Duds or Milky Way, "Preemie" would be Runts. It takes a few for the guest to recognize the connection but they always get a big kick out of it.

Materials: Paper, Pens and Preliminary Questions for Key Baby Shower Family Members
On one side of the paper list the first names of mom and dad to be, all the grandparents and brothers, sisters (you could also use the names of the guests on the invite list). Then on the other side of the paper list a brief meaning of each name from a baby book. Guests then had to match the names with the appropriate meaning. The one with the most correct wins! It was a lot of fun and interesting to find out what the names mean.

Prior to the baby shower, have a baby shower guest go to different popular child sites (Disney.com, Noggin.com, SesameStreet.com, NickJr.com) and print pictures of popular children personalities/characters. At the baby shower, see how many the mommy-to-be gets right when you hold them up as she will need to be briefed on the characters that her new child will enjoy! Bonus points for knowing all of the names of The Wiggles, Hannah Montana's real name as well as the Wonder Pets). A great baby shower game to test contemporary characters that will be loved by the mommy-to-be's child!

Good Advice
Materials: Strips of A4 (narrow) paper and pens
All the guests get given a strip of A4 paper - the paper must be fairly narrow and long. Fold the paper into quarters and then get the baby shower guests to write a problem they may have had in the first few weeks of having their baby (e.g. baby doesn't sleep well, baby cries too much, baby doesn't burp after a feed then cries etc.on the first quarter). Fold the paper in half and pass it three people along. The baby shower guests then write the solution to the problem and fold the paper so it is like a small parcel. The papers are gathered up and the mother-to-be reads out the problems and the solutions.

The Price is Right
Materials: Baby products, index cards, pens and paper for each baby shower guest
Like the game show, purchase 10 different baby items (i.e., baby shampoo, soap, bib, lotion, rattle, pampers). On index cards, write the price of each baby shower item and then randomly place the index cards in front of all of the items. Write a letter next to the price of each item and then have your baby shower guests guess by writing down the item that corresponds to the price. Each guest will write their answer on a piece of paper. The baby shower guest with the most correct corresponding prices wins a prize!

How Well Do You Know The Mommy-To-Be
Materials: paper and pens for each baby shower guest, index cards
Have the baby shower planner find out as much about the mommy-to-be as a child and write the questions and answers on index cards. Questions can range from, "What was the mommy-to-be's favorite toy as a baby", favorite baby food, any allergies, favorite show as a baby, first crush, etc. The baby shower guest to get the most right wins a baby shower gift!

Baby Bottle Treasure Hunt
Materials: 2 Normal Baby Bottles, Rice to fill bottle, Little Related Baby Items Like a Q-tip, safety pin, a button, a penny, a hair clip, tiny foam cut outs, small toys, for a boy a tiny car, maybe for a girl shower, bow, a pinto bean, and pom-pom...anywhere from 10 to 15 trinkets, Paper, Pens
Get a standard baby bottles and gather small items for each bottle as mentioned above. Randomly place the treasures in each bottle, leaving a little room for shaking. Split the baby shower guests into two teams and give them 3 to 5 minutes to write down the objects they find in the bottle without opening it! The team with the most items written down wins! Pass the parcel/gift

Materials: baby shower gift (one for mother to be), newspaper, gags, several instruction stickers which are blank stickers that you will create, a baby doll with diapers and sippy cup, blindfold, rubber glove, oversized tongs, bib)

Wrap a gift with around 10 or more layers of wrapping paper and add an instructional sticker to each layer (see below for some ideas). Some of the stickers should say, "GAG" which means the baby shower participant has to do whatever the gag states (see ideas below). Pass the parcel/gift without music but according to instruction stickers stuck on the outside of the gift. So the package may say: pass the gift to someone wearing pink. That person wearing wearing pink then takes off a layer of packaging. They may receive a prize, a gag, or just the instruction of who to pass to next. Keep going until the final wrapper which has a sticker stuck on it saying "pass this to the mother to be" and have a gift for mother or baby.

"Oh no! Baby has just pooped. Change his diaper blindfolded within 30 sec and win a prize" Then have the guest complete the activity.

Then read each little saying from the list! You will have everyone rolling in tears. Here are some funny sayings that was said at my sister's baby shower: "Oh my gosh I've never seen one like this before!" "Oh that feels so soft." "Awe its so little."

Name Tag Donation Game
Materials: piggy bank, name tags, pins or two sided strong tape
Before the baby shower, make name tags for the guests. The names have to be baby-related like pacifier, circumcision, dirty diaper, burp rag, etc. Put all the name tags in a bag and as the guests arrive, each will draw a name out of the bag and pin it on their shirts. This will be their name for the rest of the baby shower. If anyone calls the guests by their REAL name, then they have to put a quarter or just loose change in the baby's piggy bank. By the end of the party, the baby has a great amount of money for their first piggy bank.

All About Friends
Materials: Paper or Paper Plates, markers/pens for each baby shower guest
Ask each baby shower guest to privately write something about themselves that no-one really knows. As our baby shower guest Mary states, "It really added a lot of fun to the game as I showed the picture and read from the back. Then the other guests had to guess who the mystery person was. It was hilarious to find out who roller-skated competitively, who took cello lessons and who forgot her to wear her skirt to school one day and just went in her slip! One of my 80+ year old guests was a cheerleader and star of her high school play."

Match The Socks

Go out and purchase 10 pairs of baby socks and place them into a bag shaking and mixing them up. Time each person to try and match as many socks as they can in 1 minute. A fun game as well as a great way to get 10 pairs of baby socks for later use by the mommy-to-be.

Baby Gift Bingo
Materials: Square cards with 4 or 5 squares across and down with pictures of baby items in each square - i.e., bottle, pacifier, blanket, clothing, diapers, etc - and a pen for each participant
This is similar to bingo but is played while the mom opens gifts. Give each baby shower participant a square card with 4 or 5 squares across and down. The very middle is a freebie. All the other squares are filled with baby gift items that the mom may receive while opening her gifts such as pacifier, blanket, clothing, diapers, etc. Each card needs to be a little different in layout of the gifts and some cards have items listed that others don't. This way there will not be 5 people getting the bingo. The goal is to get a line of items across or down, sometimes if nobody is close then let the participants take the four corners as a winner. The person(s) with a line or bingo get a baby shower prize. This is fun for guests to do while the mom is opening the gifts and it keeps everyone involved.

A real neat baby shower activity is to make a baby scrapbook for the parent's to be. Give everyone a page to create borders, pictures, and little sayings so you can place them all in the book for the mother to be to use when taking pictures of the birth and on. It is a great way to have everyone participate in the memories. It is even fun to take a picture at the party of every baby shower participant and place it on the back of the page so you know who did the page for you and who attended the baby shower. Lots of times stores such as Garden Ridge, Hobby Lobby, Michaels have discontinued items that cost as much as a dollar and as little as 25 cents.

The Pacifier Pass
Materials: Pacifiers with handles you can hold and straws
Break up into teams of 4 or 5 people and have everyone stand in a line facing the person in front of them. The first person will place a straw in their mouth and place the straw through pacifier handle and in their mouth (the straw in their mouth not the pacifier). When you say "go" the first person passes the pacifier to the next person who should have their straw in their mouth and lets the pacifier slide down their straw (without any hands and no contact other than the straw). Everyone on the team passes the pacifier from straw to straw, no hands, no contact but lots of fun.

Baby Shower Food Race

Materials: 4 blindfolds, 4 baby bottles, 4 plates, 4 baby food jars)
Get all baby shower guests that want to participate in pairs of 2. Each pair gets a baby food jar, baby bottle with apple juice (or some other type of drinkable liquid) and a blindfold. The one person in the pair that has the jar of baby food will get blindfolded and will have to feed their partner while both sitting across from each other in chairs. When they are done with the whole jar of baby food, the person blindfolded has to drink what is in the bottle to win. The first team to do this the quickest while racing wins! You can also have fun by replacing the babyfood with Jell-O or pudding to make it taste better but place it in the jars for authentic purposes :)

Baby Bottle Thaw
Materials: mini baby bottles 1/2" - 1" for each baby shower participant and plastic shooter cups or medicine cups
Put the baby bottle in the small plastic shooter cups or medicine cups and fill with water and freeze (this would mean that the bottle is frozen in the shooter cup/medicine cup). At the shower give one to everyone and tell them the baby wants the bottle, they have to melt the ice by breathing on it or holding it, whoever gets their bottle out first wins.

Quarter Back - For the whole game, all the guys have to watch the game in absolute silence: no yelling, no cheering, nothing. If you do yell out, there is a baby's piggy bank in the middle of the room, into which you have to deposit a quarter for every offense. This is a great way to start the savings for the baby!

Receiving End - Each man is given a life size plastic baby doll that has an "accident" in his diaper. Each guy has to try to take off the old diaper, wipe, baby powder or desitin, and put on a new diaper all while watching the game. Some of the babies will be rigged (you can place extra fluid in the bodies and making sure they have holes in between the legs) so that they can make a little extra surprise when the old diaper comes off and the new one goes on! Super Bowl will never be the same after playing these games and it makes a great baby shower experience.

It's time to party for the baby shower - Winter Wonderland style! - This festive party time makes a great theme for any baby shower since there are so many things you can do to tie in the Winter season to the theme of the baby shower. A few ideas are to use the theme of "winter" where you play games like "Pass the Baby Snowman" (like hot potato but with a snowman doll that can be given to as a baby shower gift after), listen to the Season's music (Winter Wonderland) and place items that coincide with snow such as icicles, snowballs, snowflake cutouts. A great baby shower game to play is Motherly Advice where everyone gives the Mommy-To-Be some pointers on cutout snowflakes which can be placed on the walls during the party for everyone to read or placed in a memory box that can be decorated with winter colors (blue, white, etc).

Decorations can be purchased for Winter at any party store or you can make them. Cups, place settings and other items can also have the winter season theme on them as well as wall decorations. Use blue, white and purple cool colors. The tying in "warmth" can still be done by having a fireplace actually lit or on a cutout.

As stated above, a great baby shower game to play is to have everyone write a message for the mother and father to be on a snowball or snowflake and present them to the mother to be by placing them in a keepsake box. Have the mother to be read each one out loud as she takes them out of the box which makes for a sentimental and funny time.

Dear Thelma: My son's girlfriend of five years is pregnant. They eventually will be getting married, probably after the baby is born. She has asked me to have a shower for her and I gladly said yes. Now a co-worker has said it is inappropriate for a grandma to give a shower. Who is right?

A: Contemporary etiquette does allow family members to host showers in celebration of the new life. You can feel perfectly correct in doing so.

There was a time when it was not considered proper for a family member to host a shower. Because the point of a shower is to provide the honoree with gifts, it appeared self-serving if an immediate family member hosted. However, those ideas, and the rules along with them, have changed. Enjoy hosting the shower and the new grandchild.

Q: My son will be getting married out of town where his fiance's family lives. I know that very few of our family members and probably none of our friends will be able to attend the wedding. Therefore, we plan to have a celebration locally, sometime after the wedding, to introduce the couple to our friends in town.

This celebration may be six to eight months after the wedding because of their school schedules.
Our family and closest friends will be invited to the wedding, regardless of whether they are expected to attend. However, I'm unsure of whether to invite our local friends to both the wedding and the later celebration, or if they should just be invited to the later celebration. What is the proper etiquette in this situation?

A: If it's within your means to do so, I believe that all of them should be invited to both celebrations. Even if they cannot attend, people enjoy hearing firsthand of the blessed event and the honor of a wedding invitation.

Make it clear by the wording and style of your second invitation that this event is an introduction and not a second, very-late wedding reception. Present the celebration as a time to gather together and enjoy the company of the newly married couple. If it is not made clear, guests may feel it necessary to bring gifts as they would at a reception, which shouldn't be the purpose of this gathering.

Any gifts wedding guests choose to give should be given as close to the time of the wedding as possible.

Clothes Pin Game

guests. You can either use a giant poster board and paste the pictures onto
it or you can paste the pictures to cardstock and laminate each one. Don't

Diaper Bag Game

Take a diaper bag and fill it with everything that the mother to be will need to take with her every time she goes out with baby. Give each guest a paper and pen and have them write down as many things they think are in the diaper bag in a certain amount of time. Time limit should depend on how many items there are to guess. When times up start taking the items out of the diaper bag and see who guessed the most. At the end the Mother to-be gets to keep the diaper bag and all the items. Hang up a clothesline with all the different baby items. Have two people hold up the line for 1 minute and then take the line down (hide it) and have everyone write down every item they can remember (from memory). Give everyone 3 minutes to write down as many items as they can remember. Bring out the line again and see how many everyone got from their memory. An easy and fun baby shower game! Pregnant for a Day Co-Ed Game

Materials: Bag of medium balloons, a roll of yarn cut into approx. 20 inch pieces, and a chair for each male participant.
Don't tell the object of the game up-front. Make a statement to the women in attendance-- "How many of us women wished that men could be pregnant just for one day?" This statement will leave the men full of suspicion as to what was about to unfold. Hand each man a balloon. For each man that doesn't have on shoes with shoe laces, tie the piece of yarn around each of his slip on shoes to mimic a shoestring. Do not form the bow. Only make a knot to help keep the yarn around the shoe. For those who do have on string up shoes, instruct them to untie their shoes.

Instruct each man to blow up his balloon and tell each man when to stop filling it with air. The balloons should be filled with enough air that it could fit under each participant's shirt, yet be a bit uncomfortable for them to sit down and tie their shoes without popping the balloon. Keep in mind that men who already have a "pot-belly" might need to blow up a smaller balloon. Give the object of the game and the rules. Start the game and whoever ties their shoes without popping the balloon, or lifting their feet from the floor wins. You'll see husbands, cousins, boyfriends come up with such creative ideas as how to attack this difficult task. Naturally, you get a roll of laughter from the baby shower guests as they watch this hysterical event and the men will get to see what it's like to be pregnant for a day!

Place the cups in the freezer until frozen stiff (you need to prep the night before). The day of the baby shower party, give a cup to all the women who attend the shower as they arrive. Whoever can melt the water the quickest or their water breaks gets the prize. The baby shower attendees can try to melt by blowing hot air on it or putting it in the sun (everything goes, let them get creative). It's a game that everyone can play!

Who Sucks The Best

Materials: baby bottles with nipples all the same size, favorite drink or drink of choice for the group and timer.
This baby shower game is a riot since it involves those who are participating to drink out of baby bottles and race to see who can finish the first. It is fun to time everyone and see how long it takes for everyone to finish. Have teams and race in groups with each group having a winner that moves up to the final. Also a great baby shower game to play if the baby shower is co-ed. Have the men of the group race to see who can win for their wives/girlfriends. Planning a baby shower needs to include making sure you take lots of photos since it is one of the last times the Mommy-To-Be will officially will be photographed at a party with her cute tummy. We have included some great ideas to make the baby shower recorded in photographs as a memorable time that the baby-to-be can experience through pictures when they are old enough to understand. Below are our ideas and tips that may help in planning out what to photograph at the baby shower:

General Tips

Prior to the party starting, take pictures of everything - baby shower decorations, food, signs, gifts and room so the Mommy-To-Be can see how cute everything was before the party started. Remember that the Mommy-To-Be may be focused on the people and not realize how nice everything was until she looks at the pictures.

For film cameras - Make sure you have plenty of film and extra batteries for your camera. If your camera has a timer or remote you can use it while posing for the picture. If not, see if one of your guests or neighbors will snap the picture for you.

For digital cameras - Make sure you have and extra batteries and a spare flash card or two. Take as many pictures as you can, so you have a better chance of getting a good one.

When taking a group picture, have everyone move in as close together as possible before taking the picture. The closer you can get to your subjects the better. So, either move closer to your subject or use the zoom.

Try to take pictures of people at eye level.

Use of a tripod helps a lot, and keeps the camera steady.

Position your subjects so they are illuminated by the best light source in front of them, not behind them.

Be sure to select the best white balance setting for your camera based on the light source.

Back-lit people don't come out very well and are difficult to see pictures.

If you do use the flash make sure you are within its effective range, typically between six to twelve feet, depending on your camera.

People & Group Photos

Make sure you take many pictures of the Mommy-To-Be when from the moment she enters the party till being the last one there. Make sure the primary person who is taking the pictures is there before the Mommy-To-Be gets to the baby shower. Some of our favorite ideas of taking pictures of the Mommy-To-Be are:

Take a photo of her at the door entering the baby shower - A great beginning shot
Every game the Mommy-To-Be is playing is a great time for a photo.
Take a picture with her family members alone and in a group
Get a group picture with everyone present at the baby shower
Get some action photos of the Mommy-To-Be eating and holding her tummy
Always be ready to get a few of her laughing...You may have to be fast about this.
Make sure to get a picture of the Mommy-To-Be opening up all her wonderful gifts. There are always a few gag gifts that are funny to catch with a picture.
If her husband or partner shows up, it is great to get them in a few together. A great one is for the partner to be listening to her stomach with their ear to her tummy.
A cute picture is to have her at the end of the day take her shoes off and sit in a chair with her feet up fanning herself like she is ready to have the baby!

These make a great addition to the baby shower photo album or scrap-book which the Mommy-To-Be and her family will enjoy. As for taking pictures of the baby shower guests, here are a few helpful tips below:

Make sure to get people close together so everyone fits in group photos.
Make sure you have a photo taken of everyone present that is there. It is fun later for the Mommy-To-Be to see who was present at her baby shower a few months or years later when she goes through her album.
As the photographer. Be in as many pictures as you can since you may forget and take all the pictures with you in none of them which would be sad
Remember, pets are part of the family too. So, if the Mommy-To-Be has pets, be sure to take some pictures of them. It is fun for the child to see later that her Pet or his/her parent's pet was there for the festivities.

Baby Shower Scenes

Since most of your pictures will be shot at night, its important to remember a few basic rules.

When taking pictures of decorations, be sure to hold the camera very steady or use a tripod to avoid any movement.
For most pictures that are indoors or at evening baby shower events, you will want to turn on the flash on your camera.
For events during the day that are outside, you will want to turn off the flash as they only light things up a short distance from the camera, usually five to ten feet.
Use a high speed film such as ASA 400 or if using a digital camera, set the ISO to 200 or 400.
Try to experiment before the Baby Shower to figure out the best setting for your particular camera.

Mommy-To-Be's Current Children

If the Mommy-To-Be has current children, it is a great idea to take pictures with her children at the baby shower. Get some cute ones of her child or children around her opening gifts, with her child(ren) listening to her tummy or with their hands on her tummy. Another cute picture is them talking to the tummy. These are great and memorable pictures that her child(ren) will love as they get older and look through the baby shower photo book.

Materials- Small pieces of white material that can be folded into small diaper lapels, safety pins, one small piece of chocolate
As guests arrive, pin a small diaper to each on their lapel. Tell them they will be told later what it's about. At the end of the party ask everyone to remove their diaper and open them up. One person should have a "special surprise" inside. The melted piece of chocolate!

Purse Scavenger Hunt

Materials- Each guests own purse/handbag
Can be played in teams if someone arrives without a purse or handbag. A preprinted list is handed out to everyone with various items normally found it ladies bags and items rarely found in them. Example-the invitation to this shower, an overdue utility bill, any form of birth control, key chain with a baby picture, picture of a pet, expired voters registration card, grocery list, grocery receipt with toilet paper purchase. . .be creative and watch women go crazy empting out their personals for all to share! Assign a point system. Grocery list may only be worth one point, where a baby rattle is worth 10!

Baby's First Food Game

Materials: Salad Bowl, Cotton Balls, Big Salad Spoon
Set up a salad bowl in the middle of a table and empty out two bags of cotton balls, spreading them out around the bowl. Blindfold the first baby shower guest and ask her to sit near the bowl with a big spoon and see how many cotton balls she can spoon into the bowl in 3 minutes. It's hilarious! Since you can't feel the weight of the cotton balls, you don't know what you're doing. Whomever gets the most in the bowl wins!

Name That Baby Tune

Materials: CD Player or Cassette Player
Just like the popular game "Name That Tune", you can play the same game with baby songs. See which baby shower guest can guess the baby song the quickest. The person at the baby shower that guesses the most baby songs the quickest wins! Fun to also play in teams and keep score!

Baby Rattle Recipe

Bake a batch of rice crispy balls. Form the rice crispy into the shape of a ball, allowing it to set and firm up. This acts as the top of a baby rattle. Use a Popsicle stick as the handle of the rattle. On the popsicle stick, write "It's a Boy" in Blue for a boy or "It's a girl" in pink for a girl. If the gender has not been determined, write "Baby on the Way!" Wrap the top of the rattle (the rice crispy balls) with a cellophane or plastic wrap, and secure them in place with a ribbon color to suit the gender of the baby. These make great baby shower party favors and can also be used a decorations.

Do You Know What It Is
Materials: 10-15 baby items, 10-15 small paper bags, writing utensil, paper for each baby shower guest.
Sort the baby items (q-tips, nail clippers, pacifier, etc.) into the paper bags (one item per bag) and number the bags 1-10 or 15. Give each guest a pad and pen and have them number 1-10 or 15 depending on how many bags you prepared and then hand out the bags randomly to the guests. Each guest or team at the baby shower will try to figure out what is in each bag based on what they can feel and/or hear (the bags can not be opened). The bags are passed around until everyone has had a chance to touch and write down their answers. The mother-to-be then opens each bag and shows it to the guests. The guest who gets the most correct gets a prize, if there's a tie they have to answer a question about the mother-to-be. For an added bonus, make a really hard item (shoulder pads, baby nail clippers) a bonus at the end; for the one who guessed it correctly gets a bonus prize (if there's a tie, have them answer a question about the mother-to-be). Each person at the baby shower is given a small container of play-dough and everyone has 5 minutes to create a baby (using just one container). Then each dough baby is placed on a plate and presented to the mother-to-be who then looks at each dough baby and decides who's she likes the best. The winner gets a prize.

Feed The Baby
Materials: Bib, baby spoon and baby food jar for each couple that are chosen
The object was to be the first to feed a jar of food to your partner. Baby shower participants are broken up into two person teams. One teammate is given a bib and the other is given a tiny spoon. When you’re starting to plan the baby shower, make sure you talk to the mommy-to-be about the games that you’re planning. She might have a favorite game she played at friend’s baby shower or might not like other games. By talking to the Mommy-to-be, you’ll be sure to play games that she will enjoy.

Consider the Guest List
Often, the baby shower guest list will include the mommy-to-be’s friends and family members, and some of the guests might not know each another, especially out of town relatives. A fun game will encourage everyone to mingle and break the ice. You can also play popular or traditional games to help bridge generational boundaries if grandparents are among the guests.

Play Early
Games make a great icebreaker, so play a game early in the party. Try to schedule one of your games for after everyone arrives, but before food is served and gift opening.

Tie Games to Your Theme
After you have decided on the baby shower theme, including your decorating and menu, choose a game or two that goes with the theme. Also, choose games that are easy to play. If they’re confusing or hard to play, some guests will not have fun.

A baby shower is not only a special time to receive gifts for your baby, it's also a chance to get closer to, and learn from, family and friends.

* Although tradition dictates that you don't throw yourself a shower, you'll probably have in put in the planning. Here, Jennifer Jenkins, author of The Everything Baby Shower Book (Adams Media Corp., 2000), shares some shower etiquette tips and tells you how to get the special celebration you want. Baby shower decorations are a great way to make the party more festive. Baby shower decorations do not have to be expensive and can be hand-made instead of bought at the store. Here are some baby shower decorations that are easy and fun to create.

Baby Jars
Empty baby jars from a friend who has a baby are a great way to decorate the room! Baby jars can be hand painted in different colors or you can get a baby magazine and cut out baby pictures, pregnant mothers and baby toys as well as other baby items in making the jars colorful and related to the baby shower. Use these jars for:

Baby Bottles
Empty baby bottles are a great way to decorate the room. Either ask a person who does not need their empty bottles anymore or go to a store and purchase inexpensive bottles. Decorate them with paint or magazine ads and glue that have baby shower related pictures. Use these bottles for:

Condiments like mustard and ketchup when eating

Take three lifesavers together and place white frosting around them together. Take a pink jelleybelly or a blue jellybelly on top of one of them whether they are having a boy or girl. If not sure what the couple is having, do a pink and blue jellybelly mix. The white frosting should hold the jellybelly into place and then you will have little baby shower bottle decorations to spread across the room or on the tables.

Baby Shower Card Decorations
When everyone arrives at the baby shower, have crayons, markers and pre-cut paper in the form of a card. Have each baby shower guest create a personalized card with a picture on the front and a word of advice for the mommy-to-be inside. Place the cards immediately around the room as decorations which can be collected at the end of the baby shower by the mommy-to-be to read.

December Baby Shower Decorations
If having a December Baby Shower, decorate a small Christmas tree in blue or pink lights and hang baby shower toys on the tree that the mother-to-be can take and use. Use small stuffed animals, bottles, rattles, baby bottles, etc., along with more normal items like christmass orniments and snowflakes. A great way to be festive for the holiday and the baby shower party!

Usable Baby Shower Items as Decorations
Get a basket and place baby care supplies (baby shower skin care, rattles, binky's, lotions, non-tear shampoo) and placed them in the center of each table at the shower. Whether the baby will be a boy or girl, tie baby blue or pink ribbons on the basket to liven up the basket. You can also use baby shower related pink and blue balloons to finish off the baskets that will be used as centerpices. It was a great way to help the mommy-to-be get some essential items as well as making a table look nice.

Baby Shower Food - Dip Recipes

Baby Poop Dip
6 ounces of cream cheese
15 ounces of chili without beans
4 ounces can green chiles
2 ounces of shredded cheddar cheese -- shredded
Mix the cream cheese, chili and green chiles in a bowl. Microwave until mixture is hot. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Microwave until cheese is melted is melted across the top. Serve with tortilla chips.

Cheese and Artichoke Dip
8 ounces process American cheese
1 10-ounce can of 98% fat-free cream of mushroom soup
1 can drained and coarsely chopped artichoke hearts
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup chopped roasted red pepper
1/4 cup evaporated milk
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Mix all ingredients in a crock pot. Cover and cook on low for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Stir before serving. Serve with tortilla chips, bread cubes, pita bread triangles or crackers.

Cheese and Artichoke Dip Too
1 cup Miracle Whip
1 14-ounce can drained and coarsely chopped artichoke hearts
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 minced clove garlic
Mix all ingredients in a medium-sized bowl. Spoon mixture into 9-inch a pie plate and bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until lightly brown. Serve with tortilla chips, bread cubes, pita bread triangles or crackers.

Chili-Cheese Dip
1 8-ounce package soft cream cheese
1 8-ounce package shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
1 4-ounce can chopped green chiles (use jalapeños if you spicy)
1 can of Hormel chili
Spread softened cream cheese in bottom of an 11x7-inch glass baking dish. Spread green chiles on top of cream cheese. Evenly spread can of Hormel chili on top. Add package of shredded cheese on top. Bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Serve with tortilla or corn chips.

Cottage Cheese Herb Dip
1 cup Cottage cheese, creamed
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons low fat salad dressing or mayonnaise
2 tablespoons chopped green onions
1/2 teaspoon tarragon leaves
1/4 cup coarsely chopped parsley
1 dash pepper
Mix all ingredients in a blender. Scrape the sides of the blender jar and re-blend until smooth. Serve with fresh vegetable or crackers.

Crab Dip
16 ounces softened cream cheese
6 ounces real crab meat
1/2 cup whipping cream
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Mix cream cheese, whipping cream and Worcestershire sauce until smooth. Add cleaned crab meat to the mixture and place uncovered in a casserole dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until bubbly. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve with tortilla chips or crackers.

Guacamole
4 avocados peeled and pitted
1 tomato
1 lime, juiced
1/4-1/2 onion (varies by size)
1/4 cup cottage cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Tabasco or Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce
Peel skin off avocados. Finely chop onions and tomato. Add to bowl with chopped avocados, cottage cheese and lime juice. Add salt and pepper to taste. Also add Tabasco or Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce to taste (more if you want it spicy). Mix until smooth. Refrigerate for an hour or more and serve chilled with tortilla chips or corn chips.

Mexican Dip
1 16-ounce can black beans
2 tablespoons salsa
1 1/2 cups sour cream
1 cup guacamole
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
2 medium green onions, chopped
Tortilla chips
Rinse and drain the black beans and mix them with salsa in small bowl. Spread the mixture in to a 12-inch serving plate. Spread sour cream over the beans. Spread guacamole over the sour cream. Sprinkle tomatoes and onions then cheese over the top. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve with tortilla chips. To spice up your dip, add Tabasco or Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce to the guacamole or beans.

Pesto Dip
8 ounces sour cream
1/4 cup basil pesto
1 Chopped tomato
Mix sour cream and pesto until well blended then spoon the mixture into serving bowl. Garnish with chopped tomatoes and serve with fresh vegetables.

Red Pepper Feta Dip
2 large sweet red peppers
2 teaspoon red wine vinegar
1 cup crumbled feta cheese
1 pinch cayenne
1 pinch sugar
Cook red peppers at 350 degrees for 20 minutes until slightly scorched. Once peppers are cooled, peel and remove the seeds. Puree all of the ingredients in a blender. Serve with fresh vegetables or crackers.

Spinach Dip - Cold
1 8-ounce package cream cheese, room temperature
1 10-ounce package frozen chopped spinach, defrosted and drained
1 8-ounce can water chestnuts, drained & chopped
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 package dried leek soup mix
1/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
In a medium-sized bowl, mix the cream cheese, mayonnaise and sour cream together until creamy. Dry the defrosted spinach as much as possible then add it to the bowl. Mix in dried leek soup mix, water chestnuts and hot pepper sauce. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Serve in a hollowed-out bread shell with bread cubes or pita bread triangles, tortilla chips or crackers.

Spinach Dip - Hot
1 cup Miracle Whip
1 10-ounce package frozen chopped spinach
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 minced clove garlic
In a medium-sized bowl, mix cheeses and minced garlic in to the Miracle Whip. Dry the defrosted spinach as much as possible then add it to the bowl. Sun-Dried Tomato Salsa
1/2 cup finely chopped sun-dried tomatoes
1/2 cup black olives

1 tablespoon fresh basil
2 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
Mix in all ingredients stirring until completely mixed. Add salt and pepper to taste. Refrigerate for an hour or until ready to serve with tortilla chips.

Taco Dip
1 pound ground beef
1 6-ounce can tomato paste
1 package dry taco seasoning
1 cup sour cream
1 pound Velveeta cheese
In a skillet, brown the ground beef and drain the liquid. Mix in tomato paste and taco seasoning. Place beef in a microwave-safe dish. Spread sour cream on top of the beef then add cheese to the top. Microwave until cheese is bubbly. Serve with tortilla chips.

Today I thought I'd add information about baby shower invitations. Baby shower invitations start the excitement and set the mood of the baby shower. Depending on the baby shower theme and the Mommy's interests, you can have fun planning the baby shower invitations.

Make sure to consider these things:

the number of people attending
the baby shower theme
sex of the baby (if known)
are there creative people helping that want to create the invitations
what does Mommy-to-be like?

If you're inclined to create the baby shower invitations, you may want to visit a card store to get ideas. If you purchase the baby shower invitations, make sure to give yourself enough time to order them and send them out. Invitations should go out around 6 to 8 weeks before the shower. Give guests at least 2 weeks to reply and make sure to have extra invitations for any last minute invites.
